Delegation from UCR Visits HZAU

On March 29, Wang Jun, Interim Associate Vice Chancellor and special adviser to the Provost of the University of California, Riverside, (UCR) and his delegation visited HZAU. They were received by President Li Zhaohu and Hu Chengxiao, Director of International Office and Dean of International College, and relevant heads of the College of Resources and Environment.

Li welcomed them and said that HZAU and UCR can cooperate and collaborate in many fields like bioinformatics, resources and environment, and microbiology as they both enjoy high academic standards and matching degrees in those fields. The large student body of HZAU provides a steady source for international students. Li believed that HZAU can provide conditions for exchanges thanks to its abundant places for accommodation, teaching and scientific research facilities, and he hoped that on the basis of extensive cooperation, both universities can focus on further cooperation. Li also hoped that the cooperation should not be limited in agriculture, but also in humanities, engineering and other fields, and both sides also need to discuss about establishing a cooperation mechanism that encourages foreign teachers to teach in long terms in HZAU. Li thought that this kind of in-depth cooperation can expand the popularity of UCR in China.

Wang expressed his gratitude to HZAU and affirmed the prospects for the cooperation. He believed that both universities were well matched in many disciplines and hoped to sign an agreement soon so as to start specific cooperation programs such as summer programs and students and teachers exchange programs. Wang also hoped that they could sign school-level agreements at a wide range and with simplified procedures.

After the meeting, Wang and his delegation gave a presentation on study-abroad programs in the conference room on the fifth floor of the International College.
