Mother-Child Parenting Assistance Ceremony

Mother-Child Parenting Assistance Ceremony was held lovingly and presided over by Liu Jin, head of the village work team. The 12 to-be-cared children took turns to introduce themselves briefly, and then dedicated red scarf (worn by young pioneers) to their respective surrogate mothers. In return, the mothers presented to their children well-prepared schoolbags and stationeries and took photos with the children. Mothers Wang Yuanyuan and Ren Xia brought to their children pictures and works of calligraphy prepared by their biological daughters in the hope that left-behind children could advance in both academic and physical respects. HZAU also donated materials to Youpu Central Primary School.

While the children were singing Grateful Heart with sign language, Cheng Difan, on behalf of left-behind children, extended their gratitude to their caring mothers: “From now on, I have another mother. I will study hard so that I can help others when I grow up.” Huang Dan, a caring mother, said emotionally: “Offering assistance is a two-way procedure. It will not make sense without children’s acceptance. Our thanks go to those children as well.”

Wu Ping remarked, “Parenting assistance is significant not only in helping others, but also in purifying minds, thus enabling educators to realize self-education. The activity will go on with more HZAU caring mothers joining in the activity.”

Fei Junguang sincerely thanked HZAU for the caring mothers’ help and for its contributions to poverty alleviation through industry and education in Huangmei County after recalling the nearly ten-year-long links between HZAU and Huangmei County.

Playing Games Puts Our Hearts Closer

Mothers and their children played games and had much fun at noon on the basketball court of Youpu Central Primary School. In the three-legged walk race, each pair of mother and child walked in three legs for two had been bound tightly into one. Each pair walked as fast as they can, clutching each other’s hands and shouting watchwords to adjust their tempo. The mothers also held a relay race walking with a balloon between legs. The children played a cheering squad shouting words of encouragement for their mothers.

Ren Xia said: “The games put our hearts closer.” Liu Ruoxi, holding her tight and said, “I don’t want to let my caring mother go.” It’s time for class and Mother Yu Jiuxia dearly hugged her child Li Yuxin, unwilling to say goodbye.

Home Visit

In the afternoon, caring mothers visited assisted children from house to house to get acquainted with the children’s family circumstances and growth experiences.

Upon entering her child’s home, Hua Li saw a house with tainted walls, humble design, dim lights and no more furniture than two beds. According to child’s grandparents, this family lives on nothing but a few acres of land which generates slender incomes to support the young girl. Hua, with tears in her eyes, left 400 RMB to the family.

Hua was impressed by children’s innocence and vitality, saying “the moment my child ties the red scarf for me, I feel a sense of holiness and responsibility which has endowed me with confidence and strength to keep caring and aiding these children. Our team will continue our work unswervingly.”
