From May 19th to 23rd, Prof. Rashid Ahmad, director of International Liaison Department from University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), Pakistan, and other two staff visited Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) in an attempt to implement the plans made by both sides during the Second Sino-Pakistan Agricultural Forum in March, 2018. The project implementation meeting was presided over by Prof. Wu Ping, vice president of HZAU. Participants from HZAU included Office of Academic Affairs, Human Resources Office, Research Institute for Scientific and Technological Development, International Cooperation and Communication Division and International College attended the meeting.
Prof. Wu delivered a speech to welcome Rashid Ahmad and his companies. She hoped that both sides could, based on the multiple cooperation intentions reached in early talks, launch sincere cooperation in the upcoming stage of substantial operation in a wide range of areas including cooperation in scientific research, talent cultivation, teacher training and bilateral meetings to put forward the implementation of “One Belt One Road” education action plan jointly promoted by the two parties.
Rashid Ahmad expressed gratitude for the warm reception of by our side, and introduced UAF’s school history, school-running features, students and teaching staff. He indicated that UAF, now with cooperative links with 25 universities in China, paid its first visit to HZAU in order to effectively promote the substantial cooperation in scientific research, exchange visit of teachers and students and the establishment of a research cooperation center.
In project negotiation, the staff from Human Resources Office of HZAU, Research Institute for Scientific and Technological Development of HZAU and International College of HZAU introduced HZAU from foreign postdoctoral, national interregional scientific research cooperation projects, long (short) term of student exchange projects, the construction of superior origin of students and the preparation of Pakistan alumni association. Both parties reached cooperation intention and will sign a project agreement recently to launch the long (short) term student project. Our school will set up the Pakistan alumni association with the support of UAF in August this year. The two parties also held talks on the third Sino-Pakistan Agricultural Forum in 2019 and the Pakistani science and technology cooperation week.
During the trip, the delegation also visited College of Plant Science & Technology of HZAU, College of Economics &Management of HZAU, National Key Laboratory of Crop Genetic Improvement, HZAU and Key Laboratory of Horticultural Plant Biology, Ministry of Education. They then exchanged with relevant scholars on cooperative research in various fields.
