Launching Ceremony of GAH in Wuhan Held in HZAU

On May 7th, the meeting on constructing the technological system of Green Animal Husbandry(GAH)in Wuhan was held in Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU). Many heads of local governments, universities, colleges and institutes as well as representatives of local companies attended the opening ceremony, including Yang Ling, vice chairman of Wuhan Municipal Agriculture Commission as well as the director-general of Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary(WMAHV) and Gao Changming, deputy director-general of WMAHV, and Yao Jianglin, Vice President of HZAU. Experts from Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST) and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law(ZUEL) as well as representatives of some animal husbandry-related enterprises such as Wuhan Hongnong Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd and Wuhan Galaxy Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd also came to the opening ceremony. Guan Huanda, executive vice dean of the Institute for Scientific Development presided over it.

Prof Yao Jianglin delivered a speech at the ceremony expressing his gratitude to all the participants for their presence and his congratulations on the meeting. He valued the theme and the organizing form of the system and hoped that the team members would center on the industry and practical problems so that they can successfully accomplish the mission entrusted by Wuhan Municipal Agriculture Commission and Wuhan Academy of Agricultural Sciences through full discussions, synergy, high-efficiency and rigorous implementation, and in the meantime generate a series of scientific achievements and contribute to the development of agricultural industry in Wuhan.

On behalf of the program management department, Lin Chufa said that the Ministry of Agriculture started the construction of this pilot system in 2007, and by the end of 2016, 50 modern agricultural technology systems for bulk agricultural products had been established and more than 500 significant achievements had been made, which had won three nation-level science and technology awards covering 67% of the total awards of all relevant fields. Lin also pointed out that the practice shows that the establishment of the industrial system has solved the technological bottlenecks that have constrained the industry, promoted scientific research and accelerated the promotion, which has effectively boosted the technological progress of the agricultural industry in China and improved its overall production level. He then further elaborated on the purpose and significance of the system construction in Wuhan, and set down three requirements on the construction and management of the system: “effectiveness, rigorous implementation and strict funds management”. Gao Changming also gave explicit requirements on the system construction, post setting, and task division. He hoped that the team members would achieve the expected goals and desired effect as well as shape the technological system of GAH into a green, eco-friendly and smart one.
Yang Ling made a summing-up speech where she urged all parties to forge synergy to revitalize the rural economy and carry through the important measure of “Three Countrysides”( citizens go to the countryside, people can return to the countryside and enterprises help thriving the countryside) to boost the agriculture and the development of GAH in Wuhan.

After the opening ceremony, chief experts and specialists of the technological system, heads of comprehensive demonstration bases and other members had a heated discussion exchanging ideas on the system construction, task division and specific implementation plans.

It is reported that HZAU plays a leading role in constructing the technological system of GAH in Wuhan. With 35 leading experts and scholars from institutes like HZAU, HUST and ZUEL, the innovation team are working together to provide technical support for the development of AGH in Wuhan.
