HZAU and Kyoto University Agree to Hold Bilateral Academic Exchange Meeting

On March 3th to 6th, Zhang Hongrong, Party Secretary of College of Horticulture & Forestry Sciences of HZAU, Prof. Luo Zhengrong from the Department of Pomology along with two colleagues visited the Faculty of Agriculture of Kyoto University in Japan, holding in-depth discussion with their counterparts on further strengthening cultivation of talents and cooperation on scientific research.

Prof. Nawata, Dean of Faculty and Graduate School of Agriculture of Kyoto University and Prof. Tao from Pomology Laboratory of Horticultural Science exchanged ideas with visiting staff from HZAU. Both sides delved into areas such as promoting joint programs for postgraduates, short-term internship of HZAU undergraduates in Japan, invitation of Kyoto University scholars to HZAU for centralized teaching to undergraduates or graduates and talent introduction. They also decided to hold a bilateral professional academic exchange meeting in HZAU in late August or early September of 2018. During the trip, Prof. Zhang and his party also checked in on the doctoral candidate selected by HZAU for the joint program, and visited the laboratories and scientific research bases of Kyoto University.

Thanks to the agreement signed between College of Horticulture & Forestry Sciences of HZAU and Faculty and Graduate School of Agriculture of Kyoto University in May 2017, one PhD candidate of pomology has been sent to Kyoto University for collaborative research for one year. The two sides indicated that substantial achievements will be made in cultivation of talents and cooperation on scientific research through increasing exchanges.
