On-site demonstration of the green and cost-effective mode of rape planting and industrial landscape in mountainous Jianshi County, was conducted by local officials in two villages on March 18, an average day of the mild and vibrant springtime. The attendees included Li Yongtai, deputy secretary of Party committee and mayor, Li Rengang, deputy mayor, and He Ping, vice president of local People’s Political Consultative Conference.
Shuanghe Village, one of the two villages mentioned, held the launching ceremony, at which were present Li Zhaohu, HZAU president, an expert panel from the University, director of the Crop Farming Section of the Department of Prefectural Agricultural and Rural Affairs, local experts of rape, and owners of mass cropping lands. They then visited the other Village Gaoping, researching the mode of rape planting and exchanging knowhow on the spot.
The county, in 2021, had worked to build up the rape industry, which was valued as a groundbreaking part of the whole agricultural chain, and had formed a green and organic development mode that is recyclable. This mode, with the rape industry as the core, proposes that local people need to seek for “an organic cycle of flower tours in spring, oil sales in summer, soil fertilization in autumn and field conservation in winter”. The strain of “Golden Jianshi” rape has superior quality and robust sales, and the fields for its planting cover an area of over 100 thousand mu (1 mu equals 667 square meters), laying a buoyant prospect for the rape industry.
In line with the industrial layout and development goal, Jianshi County will seize the opportunity opened up by HZAU’s targeted assistance efforts and Wuhan’s policy of collaboration between regions in the province and actively incorporates itself into such city clusters as Chengdu-Chongqing and Yichang-Jingzhou-Jingmen-Enshi to foster its tourism promotion, tourism cooperation and product distribution. Intensified efforts will be made to develop high-end products including deeply processed rape oil, oil protein and bio-active substances, advance the rape processing link and create a whole industry chain that integrates food consumption, processing, sightseeing and tourism, further polishing the business card of the rape industry and contributing to Golden & Glamor Jianshi. .
