On the afternoon of March 4, accompanied by Zhang Xuelin, Vice Mayor of Xiangyang city, President Li and Mr Liu Zhanjian, Vice President of Syracuse University, and his wife Mrs Liu, who were during their visit in HZAU, together went to the XIMA for on-site inspection. Guan Huanda, dean of the Institute, introduced the project planning and construction in detail. President Li said the progress of construction was gratifying at present, and it was necessary to be strict in construction quality control.
At the symposium, Zhang Xuelin, on behalf of Xiangyang Municipal Government, welcomed Li Zhaohu and the delegation. He introduced the basic information of Xiangyang City from the aspects of population composition, history and culture, location and transportation, strategic position and industrial structure. Zeng Hongxia, Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Department (ICED) of HZAU, introduced the main modes of Sino-foreign cooperative education and the construction of Xiangyang International Campus of HZAU ( namely XIMA). After introducing the basic information of Syracuse University, Mr. Liu Zhanjiang said Syracuse University always regarded international education as an important strategy, and running schools in China through cooperation was an important part of its education internationalization plan.

President Li analyzed the distribution of Sino-foreign cooperatively-run schools in China. He said there was a huge demand for such schools in central China, and the tripartite cooperation among HZAU, Syracuse University and Xiangyang City had broad prospects. He hoped that all parties would further communicate and make efforts to promote the cooperation.
On March 5, President Li and the delegation also visited Xiangyang No.1 People's Hospital and had a meeting with its leading body. At the meeting, Lian Kai, director of the hospital, introduced the basic information of the hospital. Li Zhaohu said: “ The discipline chain is also extending with the continuous extension of agricultural product industry chain from field to people’s table. HZAU is specialized in agriculture and life sciences, and Xiangyang First People's Hospital also has its characteristics and advantages. It is hoped that both sides could keep close contact and carry out in-depth cooperation and exchanges in the future.
