The 7th China Undergraduate Physics Experiment Competition (CUPEC) announced the final award list. Five teams from HZAU participated in the competition, and all won prizes, namely one first prize, three second prizes, and one third prize. The first prize came in the category of assigned experiment themed on “Stochastic Resonance Experiment Based on Nonlinear Bistable System.”

The competition ran from September to November, and drew 1,587 teams from nearly 500 universities across China, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Fudan University. The contestants competed over three categories: assigned innovative experiments, self-selected innovative experiments and teaching contest of college physics experiments. And the final results of the competition had been determined after online preliminary review, offline review, semi-finals defense, and on-site demonstration.

The five teams of HZAU were composed of 17 students of various majors in  College of Sciences, College of Plant Sciences & Technology, College of Resources & Environment, etc. They jointly completed topic selection, experiment design,  experiment device preparation, and experiment demonstration. Meanwhile, instructors from the Physics Department of the College of Sciences have guided students throughout the competition, including experimental design, component processing, software development, installation and debugging, etc.

After the competition, Dong Jiahao, a student from class 2001 of Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering, College of Sciences, said it was a wonderful cooperation experience. The shared sense of honor united us and overcame difficulties. And it not only made us get the fun of learning and exploring but also deeply feel the strength of unity.

CUPEC, one of the top competitions for college students, aims to stimulate the interest and potential of college students in physics experiments, develop their innovation ability in theory and practice and team cohesion, and promote the reform of physics experiment teaching. There are 180 first prizes, 332 second prizes, and 503 third prizes in CUPEC. HZAU is one of the universities that boast the most prize-winning entries.
