Lecture on Healthy Lifestyles for Students in HZAU

The lecture “Healthy Lifestyles for College Students” is underway.

The lecture “Healthy Lifestyles for College Students” was held in HZAU on the afternoon of December 3, hosted by the Community Health Service Center of HZAU and co-organized by the Psychological Health Education Center of HZAU. Su Yaling and Jiang Zhendong from Wuhan Wuchang Hospital were invited to give this lecture. And Hou Dongbin, vice president of the Community Health Service Center of HZAU, presided over it.

Hou began the lecture with “Outline of the Healthy China 2030 Plan”. She noted that a healthy lifestyle was the key to health and students should take responsibility for their own health. Then, she cited “2020 China College Students Health Survey Report” to introduce the three major anxiety problems of college students nowadays, namely, “academic pressure”, “emotional disturbance” and “sleep problems”. 

With the lecture “Health Education for College Students”, Su made it clear that health education was not only for the sick but for the whole society. She also emphasized the importance of developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  

Jiang firstly shared his experience in fighting the epidemic, and called on students to comply with the epidemic prevention and control policy. Then, he explained the importance and necessity of popularizing the knowledge of mental health and mental illness according to “Outline of the Healthy China 2030 Plan”. By introducing the Chinese epidemiological survey, he added that: “ it is quite normal but helpful to ask for psychological counseling, so please ‘feel free to walk into the Psychological Health Education Center’ when you need it.”

Then, Jiang gave a detailed case explanation and analysis of the characteristics and precaution of common mental illnesses such as anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, depression, affective disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorders. He said the best way to cope with mental illnesses was to go to a doctor as soon as possible to receive early intervention so as to reduce the risk of deterioration. In terms of daily anxiety and stress, Jiang suggested students relax themselves without fixed aim and do what they like to reduce the negative impacts of anxiety. Finally, he summarized 5 principles to help students get along with those who have psychological problems in a proper way.

In the question and answer session, the students participated actively, raising psychological problems faced by themselves or their classmates. Jiang answered these questions patiently and professionally.
