On the afternoon of May 27, 7 representatives from the Consulate General of France in Wuhan visited the HZAU, including Maxime Feraille (Commissioner of Science & Education), and Girault Rodolphe (Consul for Economic Affairs). Jo Cadilhon (Counsellor of the Agricultural Innovation Program of the Economic Department the French Embassy in China), and Zhang Min (director of the Europe-Africa Department of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hubei Provincial Government) attended the symposium online. The participants include relevant person in charge from the university office, the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, and other colleges of HZAU.
After warmly welcoming the participants, the Vice President of our university, Qing Ping, briefly reviewed the cooperation and exchange between French universities and research institutions and HZAU in talent cultivation, scientific research, culture and other aspects. He said that HZAU stands ready to further strengthen substantive cooperation with French universities and research institutions, especially to build a platform for exchanges and cooperation in higher agricultural education between the two countries through Sino-French Agricultural Education Alliance.
Maxime Feraille first expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the warm reception and then introduced the characteristics of French higher education and French engineer education. He expressed his willingness to build a bridge between HZAU and French universities and institutions for pragmatic cooperation, since both two countries have a long history of agricultural education, with a sound foundation for cooperation in agricultural education and science and technology.
Counsellor Jo Cadilhon said that in January this year, the Ministry of Education of China and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of France signed a Sino-French cooperation agreement on agricultural higher education, laying the foundation for the establishment of the Sino-French Agricultural Education Alliance. The French Embassy in China will actively support the establishment of the alliance between HZAU and France.
The participants also exchanged ideas about the cooperation between HZAU and Université d'Évry and Groupe ESA. After the symposium, the delegation visited the National Key Laboratory of Crop Genetic Improvement, HZAU.
