Over 100 Alumni from CHFS Shoot Short Videos to Celebrate 120th Anniversary of HZAU

On these two days, more than 100 graduates of the College of Forestry and Forestry Sciences in 2016 crowded HZAU these days for its 120th anniversary. “I was in the Confucius Classroom at the UCL Confucius Institute Dixie Grammar School, wishing my alma mater birthday happy.” “I am in the holy city of Lhasa, wishing my alma mater Tashi delek (a Tibetan greeting meaning ‘good luck’)” and “I’m in Xinjiang Hetian. I wish my alma mater good prospect." “I am happy to celebrate the 120th anniversary of my alma mater at the University of Göttingen in Germany." "I am in Adelaide. I wish my alma mater blossoms everywhere, splendid future and forever young."

“The students have been graduated nearly two years. And I am very impressed and pleased to see their gratitude, yearning and blessings to their alma mater.” Lu Gang said, the planner, Undergraduate Counselor of 2012 College of Horticulture and Forestry Science, and Secretary of the current College Office.

Activity conceived in group chat

When it comes to the original intentions of the video shoot, Lu Gang said, “Upon the release on February 4, there was heat discussion online about the delicious food, cozy dorms and easy classes.” Lu Gang could feel how they miss their alma mater and expect the coming celebration. It corresponds with the efforts of the College’s work group mobilize all teachers and students to contact the alumni. In the beginning of this semester, he invited the postgraduates of the year to brainstorm how to organize their former classmates to send blessings to HZAU.

“Videos shoots are convenient and can easily go viral.” They wrapped up the discussion with the idea of shooting videos and editing them into a whole as a gift for the celebration.

Youth memories planned on videos

After deciding on the shooting ideas for the video, everyone began to take action on their own and received videos of more than 100 students within two weeks. Some of these classmates study abroad, some work in the enterprise, some work at the grassroots level, and others continue to study in universities or research institutes...Receiving numerous messages from the alumni telling their heartfelt gratitude for HZAU and deep yearning for their school days. They felt very moved at the videos. Although they change a lot, they remain young.

“I have been away from school for more than a year. The place where I most want to sleep in this year is the bed in my dormitory. The food I most want to eat is the hot dry noodles of Taoyuan. On the celebration day, I really wanted to eat 10 bowls of dry noodles." A classmate said affectionately.

Deep love conveyed in a call

After the videos were sent out, many alumni sent messages to express their blessings. They were grateful for the cultivation of their alma mater, and recalled the youthful years of the Lion Rock and the South Lake. More than 60 students from the College of Horticulture and Forestry Science who stayed at their alma mater also shot a small video spontaneously. The call “Right Here Waiting in HZAU” goes viral among the alumni all over the world, welcoming them back to their beloved campus.
