Sachsen Agricultural Delegation from Germany Visits HZAU

Sachsen agricultural delegation from Germany visited HZAU on October 21st. Zhang Xianlong, Vice President of HZAU, met the delegation in the meeting room of administration building. Pro. Hu Chengxiao from International Cooperation and Exchange Office hosted the meeting in which experts from colleges of Plant Science, Horticulture and Forestry Sciences, Economics and Management, and Engineering were present.

The 9-member delegation’s visit aims at deepening the friendly cooperation and exchanges between Hubei province and Sachsen, and creating a new platform for cooperation in fields of environmental protection and sustainable urban development.

Prof. Zhang Xianlong introduced HZAU's remarkable achievements in agriculture and environmental protection, and expressed the willingness to take this opportunity to further develop the cooperation and communication with Sachsen. Christoph Josef Schmitt talked about the history and present of agricultural development of Sachsen, and highlighted the need to further understanding and cooperation. The two sides talked on issues of feed storage, agricultural wastes treatment, livestock cultivation, agricultural insurance, and water and soil conservation.

Located in the east of the country, Sachsen is a federal state of Germany with Dresden as the capital city. Sachsen is the most populous and industrialized state in eastern Germany, ranking first in agricultural output in the country. Agricultural land covers an area of 1,000 hectares, dairy products account for 50% of agricultural output, while the annual output of milk is around 9,000 Kg.
