On December 20th, the final of the 18th ‘President Cup’ English Contest was held in the Student Center. Yang Shaobo, Vice President of Huazhong Agricultural University, Liu Yu and Pang Lei, Deputy Directors of the Changjiang People’s Art Theatre, attended the ceremony.

The final was a drama performance, which aims to guide the students to improve their basic English skills and the ability of critical thinking, intercultural communication and the appreciation of literature and art.
Cinderella, a classic fairy tale, performed by the students from HZAU’s College of Life Sciences & Technology, reminded the audience of their childhood. The Merchant of Venice adapted and performed by the College of Humanities & Social Sciences, brought the audiences back to the classic. By combining the scenarios of class skipping and video-gaming addiction in a witty way, the College of Sciences’ original work Skipping Classes spawn moments of deep thought and self-reflection. Students from the College of Animal Sciences & Technology adapted Maupassant's classic novel The Necklace, whose standard pronunciation and intonation accurately reproduced the image of the French aristocracy in1880s. Other performances also have their own characteristics.
